I have a passion for helping my students obtain a deep understanding of the music we make and the instruments we are play. I teach technique and theory to create a strong musical foundation and curate lesson plans based on each students individual goals and background knowledge.
I work with each of my students to break down any barriers to learning new music, to find what practice methods work best for you, and how to conduct a successful practice session on your own. This creates a sense of musical independence and confidence, crucial components for cultivating a healthy, and sustainable relationship with music.
I've been teaching music lessons for 10 years and have 4 years of experience teaching virtually. I have the highest quality cameras and sound equipment to ensure a seamless lesson.
I obtained an Associates in Professional Music from SWCC in Creston, Iowa where is studied voice, viola, piano, theory and arranging. Both classical and jazz.
I hold a Bachelors degree from The University of North Texas in Jazz Studies. Here I studied voice privately under Rosana Eckert, and performed in Jennifer Barnes' group, Jazz Singers.
UNT's Jazz Studies program is widely regarded as one of the best in the country and was the first degree program of its kind in the field. A UNT alum
Norah Jones, was also a member of Jazz Singers and a graduate of the UNT Jazz Studies program. Norah is now a 9 time Grammy winning singer and pianist.
